Senior Protocol Engineer

We require a high calibre Protocol Engineer to assist in the development of real-time embedded software for the TM500 LTE product range, in particular for the RRC and NAS protocol stack development.
Responsibilities of the role will include: design, implementation and test of complex real-time embedded components forming part of the LTE protocol stack in the TM500 test mobile product.
The successful candidate will hold a Degree in Electronics or Communications Engineering or a similar subject. Previous experience of working on LTE and UMTS either in handset or basestation development as a design and implementation role is essential.
The candidate must meet the following criteria:
Extensive real-time embedded application development using the C programming language
Knowledge of real-time operating systems, especially VxWorks
RRC - especially cell selection, connection and configuration procedures
NAS - especially attach/detach procedures and security
Basic principles of LTE L2 and L1
LTE network architecture, bearer management and IMS
IP based data applications (e.g. FTP, HTTP, RTP).
Ability to write clear, portable, maintainable and efficient code
Ability to write concise and accurate documentation
Ability and willingness to work methodically within a defined process to produce high quality software
Knowledge of ClearCase, ClearQuest and SDL
The successful candidate must be a self motivated, team player who is able to work independently, with minimal supervision and on their own initiative to tight deadlines. Individuals should be enthusiastic, pragmatic and Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
